Pop up Christmas tree card

Pop up Christmas tree card

In all of our excitement about Christmas, Ted and I have already secretly started to make pop up Christmas cards, and have tried this very simple version of a pop up Christmas tree card. It looks really effective and can be decorated in so many different ways – Ted used stick on stars and spots as baubles, but it would look wonderful with glue and glitter, ribbon, the list is endless.

Here is how to make your own

Materials

  • A4 coloured card – we chose green
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Stickers

How to make your own

  1. Fold card in half
  2. Over the fold, draw the outline of half a Christmas tree with a triangular cone shape at the top, bring your ruler in a little to start the next part of the tree, and again a third time, until you have drawn three layers
  3. Cut from the fold to the bottom of each of your lines
  4. Place ruler along the original lines, and starting from the top, fold back top part of three against ruler, fold back and then continue with the second and third part of the tree
  5. Open out to show pop up tree – the tree will be in line with the card, so keeping the tree popped up, fold back the top and bottom part of the card just above and below the tree
  6. Decorate
