Clothes peg reindeer

Well, it might be weeks until Christmas, but in our house, we have already been thinking lots about it  – Christine and I are running some Christmas Craft workshops over the next few weeks, which we are very very excited about. Plus – Ted has already started asking how many sleeps it is until Christmas, so already in our house we are rather in the mood for Christmas. I made this little clothes peg reindeer yesterday, and Ted loved it so much he thought I must include it in the workshop next week. Here is how to make your own.

Materials

  • Three wooden clothes pegs
  • Brown paint – acrylic or poster paint mixed half and half with pva glue
  • Stiff card
  • Brown wool
  • Red mini pompom
  • Googly eyes
  • Carpet tape

How to make your own

  1. Cut out a simple shape for the reindeer’s body – I cut out a bean shape and added a simple tail
  2. Cut out a small pair shape for the head
  3. Paint the top and bottom of the body and head both sides with brown paint and leave to dry
  4. Peg three wooden clothes pegs onto a box and leave to dry
  5. When body is dry, cut a strip of carpet tape and put on both sides of body
  6. Wrap brown wool round your reindeer, until body covered and then knot to secure.
  7. Peg on two legs
  8. Peg on the third peg for antlers and head
  9. Stick carpet tape onto front of third peg and tape on head
  10. Attach googly eyes and nose and you have your very own Rudolph the red nosed reindeer in time for Christmas
