Ted’s brick sculptures

Ted made these mini brick sculptures all by himself this weekend and I am so excited to post them here to share them with you. He was very clear about what he wanted to make and how he would make them and came up with the idea all on his own. He enlisted me to help search round our garden for broken pieces of red brick, and we collected a fair amount  Ted had remembered we had some clay in the garage and asked if he could use some and here is the result. He used pieces of clay to stick the broken brick pieces together, with each sculpture using one large brick piece as well as smaller ones. He got to work and busily made as many as he could with the pieces we had found and arranged them along a wall of our steps to the garden. When he finished he proudly exclaimed – “Here is my brick sculpture exhibition”. In Ted’s class at school, they have been reading about the three little pigs and talking about homes – I think that might have been some part of the influence here. Whatever it was, I felt one proud mum to play no larger a role in Ted’s creation than assistant broken brick collector.
