We love making hand-print pictures. You can make the prints into so many fun and interesting things, from the wings of birds or butterflies, to tails of fish or legs of animals, there really is no end to what children can make simply with paint, paper and their hands and perhaps some googly eyes or a felt tip pen to add on some features and details. I found some wonderful hand and foot print pictures on-line and here are some of our favourites that made us think of summer.
Last month just before we went on holiday Ted made this simple envelope holiday journal to keep things he had collected. My parents gave us these wonderful orange envelopes – perfect to make an envelope book. It was simple to make, but quite effective and perfect for sticking in things that Ted had collected, or putting smaller items into the envelope parts of the book. Continue reading
Here, Ted is doing one of his large outdoor paintings. It has a really hot day and we fancied being outside so found a nice shady area to get out the paints and have some messy fun. I taped some large sheets of lining paper across the shed, and armed Ted with a selection of different paint brushes and pots of paint and he immediately started to create his own painting. We were wanting something fun and really quick to make and thought we would make some mini beasts. We have had an invasion of flying ants into our lounge, so decided to make ants first. Continue reading
It was a really proud moment last week when Ted bounced into our kitchen and showed me this ring he had made all by himself. He was brimming with pride that he had come up with the idea on his own, found what he needed to make it and then made it on his own. We have got a craft box of bits and bobs, and he had discovered some wooden toggles and pipe cleaners. Continue reading
