Under the sea

Under the sea

Today has been one of those very wet Bank Holiday Mondays, when it has rained constantly from the moment we got up. We would all really like to have been somewhere warm, preferably at the seaside. So, inspired by thoughts of warmer weather, and the sea, Ted made this picture of under the sea.

Materials

  • Thick card
  • Scissors with serrated edge
  • Scissors
  • Wool
  • Feathers
  • Coloured craft foam
  • Silver foil
  • Craft knife
  • Metal ruler

How we made it

  1. Cut a rectangle of thick card and using a craft knife cut a rectangle out of the middle to create a frame
  2. Cut around the outside of the card with serrated scissors
  3. Wrap lengths of different coloured blue wool across the frame and secure at the back with knots
  4. We threaded green wool upwards through the blue to create seaweed
  5. Ted wanted to add bubbles for the fish so he scrunched up silver foil and folded around strands of wool to secure
  6. Thread feathers for fish, secure between wool
  7. Cut out fish from craft foam and thread between the wool to secure
