Clothes peg butterflies

Here are more clothes peg animals – we have made butterflies this afternoon. Ted had such fun hiding the clothes peg bats all over the house, that he wanted to make something else that he could clip onto different things. When we were at Longleat Safari last week, we also saw some really large, beautiful and colourful butterflies so thought it would be great to make our very own to have around the house.

Materials

  • White or coloured card
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Wooden clothes peg
  • Cello-tape
  • Tissue paper squares

How we made them

  1. I made a simple template for the outline of a butterfly with the body was just larger than the length of a peg.
  2. Drew around butterfly template on card and cut out
  3. Ted glued all of the butterfly with glue and pressed tissue paper over the glue
  4. Cello-taped clothes pegs onto back of butterfly
